Scott Herman to ride 545 Miles in 7 days! For the AIDS Life Cycle

Personal trainer,
actor and model
Scott Herman
(The Real World: Brooklyn)
is one of the 2,500 people who will pedal from San Francisco to Los Angeles with AIDS/LifeCycle (ALC), the world’s largest annual HIV/AIDS fundraising event, this June.

Leading Team “Scott Herman Fitness,” he’ll pedal 545 miles over seven days to help raise millions for the life-saving HIV/AIDS-related services of the L.A. Gay & Lesbian Center and San Francisco AIDS Foundation.

This year’s ride is a very special one—it begins on the same day, June 5, that marks the 30th anniversary of our nation’s battle against AIDS. That’s when the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention first reported cases of what would later be known as AIDS among five young gay men in Los Angeles—two of whom had already died from their infection.

Herman is an outspoken supporter of the LGBT community and marriage equality, among other causes. The owner of ScottHermanFitness.com and the winner of Men’s Health “Iron Abs” contest in 2007, Herman is also known for his all-American good looks and muscular physique. However, like most AIDS/LifeCycle riders, he is training to get ready for the ride. When he registered he had no experience with distance cycling; in fact, he didn’t own a bike until sponsor Cannondale provided him with one.

“Taking on a new physical challenge is exhilarating—especially when I’m doing it to support a cause I’m so passionate about,” Herman says. “My business is all about helping people to be as healthy as possible, and that’s what I want to do by taking part in ALC, too. The ride provides much-needed funding to programs that provide medical care for people who are living with HIV as well as HIV-prevention programs that help people avoid HIV infection in the first place.”

Herman’s six-person team will make the journey with about 3,100 other people (including 600 volunteer roadies), from nearly every state and 11 countries, who share a dedication to supporting life-changing services for people with HIV and HIV-prevention services. Each rider has committed to raising at least $3,000 each. Herman’s team has set its sights much higher, with a goal of raising a total of $200,000. The Center and AIDS Foundation predict that the participants in this year’s ride will break the previous fundraising record of $12.3 million, set in 2008.

Please support Scott on this amazing ride! Every dollar counts!
