I Want To Get Married DVD - Matthew Montgomery

Just six days before the vote on Prop 8, the sweet and geeky  nerd Paul (gay movie heartthrob Matthew Montgomery) attends a lesbian wedding and decides he wants to get married to the man of his dreams.

Paul runs a boutique advertising agency. At the same time, he's assigned to work for a conservative client, The Family,  who's campaigning against gay marriage —and he's too strapped for cash to say "no".

In the week that follows, Paul embarks on a hilarious and heartwarming personal journey to find the man of his dreams, test his moral limits and reconcile with his estranged parents.

Paul goes through a series of hellish dates throughout the film. When he finally gets to know a cute acquaintance named Jim  (handsome Peter Stickles -Shortbus and Watch Out ) a little better, however, he realizes that he may have just found a perfect match. Marriage suddenly seems like a future possibility, but it's just before the 2008 election day and Proposition 8 is looming right around the corner.

Paul's tight-ass rich mom just donated $500,000 to the campaign against gay marriage -  but along the way, realizes what a terrible mistake she made. And she tries to right, her wrong.

Matthew Montgomery                  Peter Stickles                           Emrhys Cooper

It has been called, "A smart, funny romantic comedy with a socio-political message intact, I Want to Get Married is like a gay version of 40 Year Old Virgin that benefits greatly from warm supportive performances." -  and I agree. Great sets and clothes. Cute storyline and wonderful performances.

Ashleigh Summer and uber hottie Emrhys Cooper (a UK import now on Desperate Housewives!) are particularly charming as Paul's closest friends and female impersonator Matthew Martin  is a dramatic torch song singer type known  as Miss Piggy B, who coaches Paul's mother through some of her high-strung neuroses. Jane Wiedlin from the Go-Go's  works at the office with Paul.

(Matthew Martin also appears in the very funny Baby Jane? - also from director William Clift  -  a campy remake of the Bette Davis / Joan Crawford film.)

Highly recommend this movie!  All three actors are great and you should keep your eye out for more from them!
