Unless You're Gay

Mother's Day has always been a special day for me -- a time to celebrate my mother, grandmothers, but most importantly, my children.

But this Mother's Day, I won't be celebrating as usual.

You probably heard that last month, the Boy Scouts of America told me that I was no longer welcome to serve as scout leader of my 7-year-old son's Boy Scouts troop because I'm gay.

Like any mother, my heart was left broken.

So far, over 275,000 people have joined me at Change.org/scouts to tell the BSA that it's time to end their long history of discrimination against gay scouts and LGBT leaders.

Will you join me, as well as celebrities including Julianne Moore and Josh Hutcherson, this Mother's Day to help tell the Scouts that they should accept all moms by sharing my story on Facebook and Twitter?

That Ain't No Man! Carmen Carrera Reveals She is Transgender

A svelte artiste with a body hot enough to ignite jealousy in her competitors, Carmen Carrera is best known for her roles on RuPaul’s Drag Race and RuPaul’s Drag U on LOGO TV, but few know this sophisticated beauty is more than a polished drag queen. Carmen, once known as Christopher Roman, is a transgender woman.

"I am now in the long process of transitioning from male to female.", Carmen says. "Transitioning is a life-changing decision. It's empowering. I plan on finishing the long and risky Hormone Replacement Therapy process, while continuing my work in television and movies. On May 4, ABC aired a special episode of “What Would You Do?” In the show’s typical setup with performers staging a conflict, Carmen plays herself, posing as a waitress at a restaurant in New Jersey, while a male actor enters to blatantly harass her in front of the patrons.

As these unsuspecting people watched the man’s escalating abuse, the cameras capture the scenario that ensues. Viewers saw more than a few surprises.

This is Carmen’s debut as a transgender woman. Though she continues her involvement in television and remains in demand on the nightclub circuit, her career has advanced into acting and modeling. In a November 2011 shoot for W Magazine, Carmen showed off her stunning physique in a Fabulous Fakes ad for La Femme perfume, by Steven Meisel (Madonna, Linda Evangelista, Naomi Campbell).

From RuPaul alumni to social activist, Carmen Carrera has made her mark in the entertainment industry.

Vidal Sassoon Changed The World of Hair. Dead at 84

"When I was in school learning the trade, I always took from his work to improve my own methods of styling. He was truly the most revolutionary person ever to enter into the industry. Amendment One in North Carolina Passes

Marriage between one man and one woman
is the only domestic legal union that shall be valid or recognized

By the time you read this, Amendment One, which strengthens the ban on same-sex marriage and erodes state support of civil unions, will have passed in North Carolina — and likely by a fairly hefty margin.

How to account for the amendment’s popularity?

Maybe it’s sheer ignorance. As Wonkette notes, the people fondest of the amendment (supporting it by the margin of 64 to 28) are those who admit they are not quite clear on what it does.

People leaving the polls admitted they were not really sure what it did - but they were told they should vote for it!

John Travolta in ANOTHER Gay Scandal

JOHN TRAVOLTA CAUGHT IN YET ANOTHER GAY LIAISON???

SAY IT ISN'T SO!

John Travolta has been hit with a sexual battery and assault lawsuit by an unidentified masseur.

The massage therapist, identified in documents as John Doe, claims that Travolta responded to an advertisement for his services in mid-January. He alleges that their subsequent session was a nightmare of unwanted advances, touches and bizarre declarations about sexual favors in Hollywood.

According to court documents, the events in question unfolded on Jan. 16, when Travolta allegedly asked the masseur to meet him on a street corner and then fetched Doe in a black SUV. Condoms, as well as scattered chocolate cake wrappers, were said to have littered the car's center console and floor.

It was back to the Beverly Hills Hotel, to a private bungalow, where Travolta stripped immediately and was "semi-erect," the suit claims, and Travolta then proceeded to suggestively remove a towel covering his buttocks, touched the masseur's genitals repeatedly and tried to coax John Doe into a reverse massage.

Then, according to John Doe's recollection (TMZ has the full suit here), when Travolta got the message that no mutual play would go down, he became erratic and verbally abusive, calling Doe a "loser."

The most troubling nugget in Doe's account claims that Travolta went on a rant that "Hollywood is controlled by homosexual Jewish men who expect favors in return for sexual activity" and that his habit of making such trades began in his "Welcome Back Kotter" days.

Team Travolta says that the actor wasn't even in California the day the alleged shenanigans went down, and that that can be proved if necessary.

The masseur is seeking $2 million in punitive damages.

PEREZ HILTON JUST FOUND 2 MORE CASES AGAINST JOHN-

Wow! Things just keep getting worse and worse for John Travolta as allegations of sexual harassment, battery, and assault keep piling up.

Two male masseuses have each filed lawsuits against the married actor and now a former Royal Caribbean cruise ship employee has joined in on the party.

Similarly to the other stories, Chilean Fabian Zanzi claims hat Travolta stripped down naked and asked for a massage. That was just foreplay for the sex he expected to have after allegedly offering to pay the cruise ship manager $12,000. Here are the creepy details:

"[He] said he had something on his neck. I thought it was a fuzz. As I approached, he took off his white coat and was naked. He hugged me and asked me to do a massage."

The weird part is that this guy wasn't a masseuse. He was simply in charge of taking care of VIP guests. It sounds like Travolta severely overestimated how far this man was willing to go in order to "take care" of him.

JC Penny Keeps Pushing the Gay Lesbian Envelope

At this point, I just think One Million Moms need to get lives.

The group who calls themselves One Million Moms, despite comprising only 40,000 members, is after JCPenney once again, this time because of their recent May mailer, which includes a photo of a lesbian couple with their two daughters.

OMM feel as if this means JCPenney is somehow taking sides, and they want them to take a "neutral stand."

What would those sides be, exactly? Anti-gay vs. pro-gay? Right-wing vs. left-wing? Christian vs. otherwise? What these women are missing is that JCPenney is taking a "neutral" stand.

Jenny block discussed the issue on Huff Post.

This is about ignorance. It's about ignorance about the LGBTQ community. It's about ignorance about God's love for everyone. It's even about ignorance of simple commerce.

Ecstasy is Not as Harmful as Some People Think

Contrary to long-held opinion, ecstasy, the popular rave-gay-culture drug, may not harm your brain.

This is according to one of the largest studies ever conducted on the illegal drug's effect on cognition, published last week in the journal Addiction.

Though former studies have concluded quite the opposite about the drug (technical name 3,4-Methylenedioxymethamphetamine, or MDMA) there's been concern that these conclusions were overstated and reached through faulty methods. And the drug's dangers have been greatly exaggerated.

The latest research, a $1.8 million study funded by the National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA), set out to correct these methods by eliminating all other factors that could possibly contribute to mental impairment: 1) sleep deprivation and dehydration commonplace in rave culture, 2) previous habitual drug or alcohol use, or 3) former cognitive damage for any reason.

The common understanding, and certainly the argument from the anti-drug camp, has been that ecstasy can cause memory loss, pose a serious brain damage risk, and have long-lasting effects on behavior.

Researchers are quick to point out that despite the study's conclusion, ecstasy is still a dangerous drug. The illegal pills have no warning labels, and can contain a number of harmful contaminants.

North Carolina Amendment One and Scary Times

The North Carolina Same-Sex Marriage Amendment will appear on the May 8, 2012 ballot next week, in the state of North Carolina as a legislatively-referred constitutional amendment.

The measure would define marriage in the state constitution as between one man and one woman, and would ban any other type of "domestic legal union" such as civil unions and domestic partnerships.

Same-sex marriage is already illegal in the state of North Carolina. The proposed measure, however, would add the ban to the state constitution.

The churches are really cranking up their efforts to convince people GAY KIDS NEED TO SLAPPED. PUNCHED. SQUASHED LIKE A COCKROACH!

Romneys Richard Grenell Resigns

The Washington Post reported that the openly gay Richard Grenell had been hounded from the campaign by anti-gay conservatives.

Romney campaign manager Matt Rhoades said in a statement that Grenell, hired last month, decided to leave for personal reasons that he did not specify.

“We are disappointed that Ric decided to resign from the campaign for his own personal reasons. We wanted him to stay because he had superior qualifications for the position he was hired to fill,” Rhoades said. - SERIOUSLY? You hired him! Stand behind him for God's sake and speak the TRUTH!

The Post's “Right Turn” column quoted a statement from Grenell that said his ability to “speak clearly and forcefully on the issues has been greatly diminished by the hyper-partisan discussion of personal issues that sometimes comes from a presidential campaign.”

Haters and Truth4Time Gets Shut Down By Facebook

HATERS get shut down by Facebook!

LGBT activist and blogger Alvin McEwen this week uncovered a “secret” Facebook group — whose memberships reads like a “who’s who” of anti-gay activists — aimed at promoting and disseminating anti-gay information through websites, including Youtube, Twitter and Facebook.

The group, “Truth4Time,” was designed to serve as a library of anti-gay articles, blogs, and other materials for its members to use in their fight against the “gay agenda,” reported McEwen, but shortly after his report, the group was reportedly disbanded.

Among its members, reported McEwen, were Maggie Gallagher and Brian Brown of the National Organization for Marriage, Scott Lively, author of the Pink Swastika, who is being sued for his alleged involvement in fostering Uganda’s notorious “Kill the Gays” bill.

The group maintained its anonymity by employing a little known Facebook group privacy option called “secret” — which prevents non-members from being able to find the group in search results, or seeing status updates related to the group.

In effect, Facebook treats “secret” groups as if they don’t exist, so members usually must know of other members and be added to the group by invitation.
