Florida Wants to Deny Tax Breaks to Films and TV with Gay Characters!

Didn't this state learn from their mistakes and Anita Bryants fat mouth?! What are they thinking of down there?

Most states offer aggressive incentives to lure movie makers to them. Not in Florida. In recent years, Florida has slipped from third in the country in terms of film production, only behind California and New York, to out of the top ten.

Thanks to Rep. Stephen Precourt, a new bill that increases tax incentives to lure television and movie production to Florida would deny those tax breaks to films that feature gay characters.

Miami New Times reports...Current laws prevent tax breaks for films that feature smoking, sex, nudity, or profane language. The proposed changes make Florida guidelines seem even more like the Hays Code that censored Hollywood from the the '30s to the '60s. Thankfully, Precourt hasn't borrowed more ideas from that censorship office and written in language that would also disallow interracial relationships, suggestive dancing, and "lustful kisses."

Besides not offering tax breaks to films that "exhibit or implied act" of nontraditional family values, films with gratuitous violence would also be left out.

Laser whitening in my area is anywheres between $300-$500. And trays with gels can run from $125-$200. So $40 is a very good deal. I don't think it's possible to see the exact same results as a $500 laser treatment - but for $40, YOU DO SEE RESULTS.

The best tooth whitening results you will see with ANY safe whitening procedure will be as white as your natural tooth shade. Don't expect to have Hollywood white teeth. Cutie-pie Eric Saade is a Swedish singer and children's television presenter. Saade first came to prominence after his win on the Swedish music contest Joker (now Popkorn) and for being a member of Swedish boyband What's Up. He left the band in February 2009 to pursue a solo career.

In December 2009 Saade released his first worldwide single Sleepless. A new album is expected for a 2010 release. Saade participated in Melodifestivalen (EuroVision) 2010 in the 2nd semi-final on February 13 at the Göransson Arena, Sandviken with the song Manboy and achieved a place in the national final.

Was Marie Osmonds Son Michael Blosil Gay?

I was working at my desk this past week when news of Marie Osmonds son came in. My first thought was, OMG, I wonder if he was gay? I had no idea if her son was gay or not. But just thinking about a young person growing up in that strict Morman environment, I thought it must be tough.

Then possible clues start to come out in the days that follow...

Marie Osmond's son Michael Blosil died on Friday night in Los Angeles after leaping to his death from his eighth floor apartment. He left a note saying he intended to commit suicide after a life-long battle with depression. He said he felt he had no friends and could never fit in. He was just 18 and was a student at The Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising.

He could have been gay...or maybe just teenage issues....

Michael had sought treatment for depression last year in rehab. In March 2009 Marie gave an interview to People magazine saying he was out of rehab and better,

"Those kinds of things are really very hard for a teenager to deal with," she tells PEOPLE. "And if he ever wants to talk about it ... he will, but it has to be their choice. It's not my choice." - - WHAT? I would think as a parent, you would at least TRY to talk to your child about their problems or issues.

Outspoken stand-up comedian and gay rights activist Roseanne Barr insinuated that the recent suicide of Marie Osmond’s son, Michael Blosil, had less to do with his innate depression than with the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints’ archaic stance on homosexuality. Roseanne really shakes it up on her blog this week!:

"because he had been told how wrong and how sick he was every day of his life by his church and the people in it. Calling that "depression" is a lie!

Yet the Osmonds still talk lovingly about their church, saying nothing about its extremely anti-gay Crusade. Marie also has a gay daughter! Hey, I want her and all the gay kids in the world to know that they are just fine being gay and that they deserve love and respect instead of insults and rebuke! I have gay people in my family and my circle of friends and I am kicking bigot ass and taking names!"

"How sickening. I know so many mormon kids who were gay and committed suicide, and I just cannot and will not stay quiet in order to not offend bigots anymore. It is all so terribly depressing."

Gay Marriage Licenses Being Issued in Washington DC Today!

in Washington DC!

The AP reported on Tuesday- "Opponents of gay marriage in the nation's capital had asked Chief Justice John Roberts to stop the city from issuing the licenses on Wednesday while they appealed. They argued that D.C. voters should have been allowed to vote on the issue. Local courts have rejected the opponents' arguments.

'It has been the practice of the court to defer to the decisions of the courts of the District of Columbia on matters of exclusively local concern,' said Roberts, writing for the court. He also pointed out that Congress could have voted to stop the city government from putting the law into effect and didn't. Opponents have also asked city courts to allow a voter referendum on gay marriage, and they 'will have the right to challenge any adverse decision ... in this court at the appropriate time,' Roberts said."

Members of the LGBT community in Washington, D.C. are ecstatic now that the nation's capital has begun its first round of licensing and officiating for same-sex marriage.

Of course, the relentless bigots are not giving up either, making every possible attempt to reverse this decision, HRC Backstory reports:

"Today, opponents filed an unusual 'motion for clarification' in the D.C. Court of Appeals to request that it revisit last week’s decision denying them a preliminary injunction. Then late this afternoon, opponents also filed a frivolous complaint in federal court seeking a temporary restraining order, naming as defendants D.C., the Mayor and the Chief Judge of the D.C. Superior Court. Opponents claim their Fifth Amendment due process rights have been denied because they 'have not yet had a meaningful opportunity to brief the merits of their claim… or an opportunity to be heard.'"

Yeah for equal rights!

Several decades have passed since the West stopped considering homosexuality a mental illness. But for transsexuals, that kind of milestone has been elusive — until now.

Last month, France became the first country in the world to remove transsexualism from its official list of mental disorders — a major victory when it comes to acceptance of this oft misunderstood condition.

Approximately 30,000 to 40,000 postoperative transsexual women live in the United States, and many thousands more are now in the process of gender transition here. These numbers are much larger than commonly assumed by the public because a veil of invisibility hides the true nature and extent of the transsexual condition. Especially hidden are large numbers of highly successful women who have fully transitioned. The reason is that most successful women live in "stealth mode" or are "woodworked". They leave their pasts behind and hide in plain sight in order to avoid social stigmatization and get on with their new lives. Their personal successes insure that they assimilate and blend right into society.

TIME Magazine reports this is just a small step in the right direction. In practice, the declaration will do little to improve their legal or medical rights in the country. For example, transsexuals are still required to have a sex-change operation before they can change their gender in the eyes of the law. And to get the green light for surgery, they must still undergo extensive medical and psychiatric evaluations. "It's a symbolic victory," says Georges-Louis Tin, president of the Paris-based IDAHO committee, which fights homophobia and what it calls "transphobia," or discrimination against transsexuals.

The tide may be turning. At least that's what IDAHO's president hopes. The French Health Ministry has already agreed to push other countries in the E.U. to drop transsexualism from their lists of mental disorders. And that, Tin says, is a start.

Real Housewife KIM ZOLCIAK who was SO IN LOVE with Big Daddy, didn't realize she really preferred women over men!

According to US Weekly, Fort Lauderdale based lesbian DJ Tracy Young stepped out this weekend at the Blacks' Annual Gala in Miami Beach with none other than Real Housewives of Atlanta cast member Kim Zolciak, the wig-wearing buxom blonde and "Don't be tardy for the party" infamy.

"Tracy broke up with her longtime girlfriend to be with Kim. Since they've been together, Tracy lost a lot of weight and got really skinny for Kim. They seem to be beyond happy with each other," says US Weekly's anonymous source.

Last week, Real Housewives of New York star Simon van Kempen (who is married to Alex McCord) hinted to Us that Zolciak's sexuality would be a storyline on the Bravo reality series.

"The rumor is that Kim Zolciak will come out this season," he told Us at the Season 3 screening party at Tenjune in NYC.

Neither lady has confirmed it on Twitter, but Kim did retweet Young's message that "There are haters everywhere... why is it so difficult for some people to spread love & encourage happiness?"

March 3 - UPDATE - Tracy Young says, no, that she and Kim Zolciak are not an item. She told Us Magazine:

"These allegations of a secret affair aren't new to me. It seems whenever I work with a high-profile female artist, someone is always trying to link us together romantically."

Straight Wrestler Hudson Taylor a Champion for Our Gay Rights

Another straightie who is fighting for our team! I love it when hetero celebrities show their support and help fight for our rights. You can never have too many straight allies. And here comes a guy, with no special agenda or reason for choosing the gay issue, HUDSON TAYLOR is out fighting for our rights! He feels a responsibility to help right a wrong. A champion wrestler, he is an academic All American with his eye on law school and a possible future political career.

OUTSPORTS reports It's his outspoken support for gay rights, though, that makes him unique in the athletic world, where straight allies are few and far between. Not many athletes would wear a Human Rights Campaign sticker on their headgear in competition.

"For me and my generation, [LGBT rights] is a pressing issue," said Taylor, 23, a native of New Jersey. "I believe that whatever history I'm a part of, I'm responsible for. If I feel something is unjust or unequal, I feel a responsibility to do something about it."

His passion for gay rights is borne more out of righting a wrong than of having a lot of gay friends. The two maids of honor for his upcoming wedding are lesbians in a relationship, but he said he does not have a close gay male friend.

He also does not know of any gay collegiate wrestlers (though he has heard some names) and said he was not sure if a gay wrestler would be accepted. When he gave an interview to a wrestling website that mention his passion for gay rights, he was labeled gay on a discussion forum.

Growing Pains Star Andrew Koenig Still Missing in Vancouver

Everyone is covering this story this morning, in the hopes someone has some information about the missing Andrew Koenig.

Koenig, 41, who played Richard "Boner" Stabone on the 1980s sitcom, was reported missing last week in Vancouver, British Columbia.

The father of missing actor Andrew Koenig fears his son's bouts of depression are behind the "Growing Pains" actor's disappearance, but police believe Koenig may just be lying low.

Worried family and friends help police search for Andrew Koenig. The family is flying to Vancouver today.

"He's been depressed," his father, "Star Trek" actor Walter Koenig told ABC News. "He's trying to get ahead in this business, and he's been working at it a long time."

Before Andrew left California for Vancouver, he got rid of a lot of personal belongings and even returned gifts to friends. Now flight documents show he did not board his return flight back to California, and no one has seen or heard from him. A co-worker he did several film projects with said, ""I was away, I was in Florida, and he dropped off a bag of things of mine that he had," Miccio said. Betty White Will Host SNL Saturday Night Live - Thanks to Facebook Fans

But a lot of people under-estimate the power of the people. When a recent grassroots campaign involved both Facebook and a beloved Golden Girl, the scope of its influence cannot be underestimated.

Between her cameo with Abe Vigoda in a Super Bowl commercial for Snickers, costarring with Sandra Bullock and Ryan Reynolds in the romantic comedy "The Proposal," and being recognized for lifetime achievement by the Screen Actors Guild, Betty White is suddenly finding herself in even more places than President Obama.

A couple months ago, someone on Facebook started a campaign to get the 88-year old Betty White a spot on SNL. People laughed. Even she laughed!
"I don't even know where that came from," says White, "That just came out of left field. It's ridiculous. I don't think ['SNL' creator and producer] Lorne Michaels even knows about it, so we won't worry about it."

Today, sources say Saturday Night Live is thisclose to signing TV legend Betty White to host the show for the very first time.

But she would not have to host it alone.

We hear SNL is putting together a “Women of Comedy” episode that would team White with several of her younger contemporaries. Ex-SNL MVP Molly Shannon is on board, we hear, and feelers have also been put out to Tina Fey and Amy Poehler. (An NBC spokesperson insists no one has been confirmed at this time.)

This tag-team approach will allow Lorne Michaels to appease White-on-SNL zealots (half a million and counting!) without making the 88-year-old shoulder the burden of all 90 minutes on her own.

While Michaels has not made the offer yet to Betty, she isn't sitting around waiting by the phone! She keeps very busy and the Morris Animal Foundation, honored White last week for her lifetime commitment to improving the lives of animals. White has been on the foundation's board of directors since 1971. "My life has been divided into two halves: show business and animal work, the two things I love most," said White. "They keep electing me to the board, and I keep saying that it's time you threw me away by now. They haven't been able to get rid of me."

Next up for White in the showbiz world: costarring as Grandma Bunny in Disney's fall release "You Again" with Sigourney Weaver, Jamie Lee Curtis, Kristin Chenoweth and Kristen Bell. Bell plays a young woman whose brother is about to marry the school bully who used to pick on Bell in high school.

"Celine: Through the Eyes of the World" follows another pop icon, Celine Dion, from start to finish of her 2008-2009 Taking Chance World Tour. We get to see her experiences, good and bad, during the year-long tour that took her to 23 countries, 93 cities and 131 shows...blah, blah, blah.

Celine lamented "The show in Las Vegas was so successful, so many people came year after year, I really thought . . . Who's left to perform for?" Dion said from her home in Florida on Thursday, the day of the public premiere of her new tour-film-documentary. "I was a little bit nervous about that."

Oh, sure you were!

More than 800 HOURS were footage was shot for this 2 hour film. So, her marketing concept? Let's charge more than every other film ever made. More than Titanic. More than Harry Potter. More than Star Wars. MORE THAN AVATAR.! Why? Not because it's in 3-D! Not because it's in IMAX. Just because, she's Celine Dion!

The ticket price is normally set by the theater chain. As a result, prices will vary, ever so slightly, for each theater. MOST theaters charge around $9-$11 for adult tickets. However, if you want to see Celine on the big screen, and just can't wait for the dvd, it'll cost ya $14-$16.50!

"Celine: Through the Eyes of the World" is only in theaters for a limited time. ALLEGEDLY.

This Ultimate Fan Edition with collectible Lenticular Packaging includes a 7-minute sneak peek of “The Twilight Saga: Eclipse” which begins with an exciting behind-the-scenes look at the production of the newest film in the franchise.

New interviews with stars Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart and Taylor Lautner, as well as with series-creator Stephenie Meyer are integrated with revealing, on-the-set footage of some of the key scenes and sets from the upcoming movie. The book is divided into three parts, the first and third sections are written from Bella Swan's perspective and the second is written from the perspective of Jacob Black.
There is speculation Breaking Dawn would then become 2 movies, back-to-back!

I am not a TOTAL TWILIGHT fan, so forgive me if this info is wrong, but I guess the 5th book, MIDNIGHT SUN, which is a re-telling of TWILIGHT 1, but from Edwards eyes, is completed, and the movie rights have been secured. Ms. Meyer has stated that Twilight is the only book from the series that she plans to rewrite from Edward's perspective. However, in another article I read, it said that Ms. Meyers stated, " "I enjoyed writing this 5th book so much, I'm going to begin work on Full Moon, which is New Moon told through Jacob's perspective."

Talk about a money machine!
